June 17, 2014, I met up with G, a Swiss national who has been living in Singapore for two decades. This meeting was initiated by G several weeks ago because he has a few doubts about what I wrote in my (selected audience) book, “Lee Kuan Yew is into Buddha-hood”. He wanted to hear clarifications from me, face-to-face.  Our discussion went on for 3 hours, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Incarnation

G asked, “I wanted to hear from you personally. How do you explain incarnation before you go on to explain reincarnation?”

[1] The first thing that struck my mind was, “A deeply misled belief is beginning to see the light in his mind. Unable to fully accept my written explanations, I understand there is a little struggle within him.”

I replied, “Let’s not speak with the perspective of God and religion. There is Heaven and Earth. Those in Heaven watch everything that is happening on Earth very closely. There is an organization in Heaven. Let’s not discuss about this either.”

G quickly waved his right hand, signaling me to skip and go on straight to the point.

I continued, “When they see that Earth had become too chaotic, it is time to send one of the Elders (300 plus) down to carry out a mission. For example, Lord Siddhartha Guatama Buddha came down 2,500 years ago to convey a message. When he came down to Earth, he was born as a child prince and lived his first 26 years of life as a normal person, married and had children. In the next six years after he had left his palace and while meditating under a bodhi tree he finally attained enlightenment. He taught, finished his mission and went back home. This is called incarnation. In Chinese it is called 化身 (huà shēn). Here are two other examples, Lord Amitabha Buddha was sent down to India after him. In China, when Heaven saw that the warring states had gone too far, fighting each other incessantly, Sun Zi was sent down as a hua shen or incarnation.”

G nodded his head and said, “Well explained. I can accept this. What about reincarnation?”

Reincarnation

I explained, “First we must understand the true meaning of samsara as it is in Sanskrit. It means, the state where a soul upon leaving his dead body and beyond. Without a warm body, it is cold, lonely (though later it might find companions but let’s leave this out), and not knowing what’s next. However, in the Chinese language, samsara was translated as 轮回 (lún huí) or reincarnation. This is the most fundamental belief of Mahayana Buddhism and yet, it had all gone wrong right from the ancient days it was twisted by the evil spirits whose sole purpose is to abuse their state of ignorance of what’s next.”

G interrupted, “I can see [2] souls. When a person dies, the soul goes nowhere. Hovering around, it tries to cling onto a nearby warm body. It does not seem to be able to leave this world. Personally, I can see there is more than one soul in a person. Some human bodies have several or many more souls [3] in them. Do you see soul or feel the ‘energy’ [4]?”

I replied, “No. I can’t see soul. My second, present wife can see, hear and even smell their presence. This could be the reason why we got married. My first wife could not. Thinking back, I see it as a necessity for me to embark on a new journey with this lady in order for me to learn about this unseen world, indirectly though [5]. All because she can see, hear and smell [6] them. She is not an ordinary lady.”

G continued, “You have not involved with them before. Good. Any engagement with them is extremely nightmarish. It really saps your energy. One way to help a person who is infested by several souls is to envelop them in light (he cupped both his hands into a volleyball size to demonstrate how the envelope of light is) and move them out from the person’s body. We then have to transfer them to somewhere outside of the territory that we are in.  Once placed elsewhere, someone else has to take over. We know our limit and this is the best we can do.” He then looked straight into my eyes.

I nodded my head. In my mind, I thought to myself, “Hey! This guy is quite a master in handling souls (sentient beings as in the Buddhist language).”

Half a minute later, I explained, “When a soul bangs right into another warm living body, this is what I called, reincarnation. This is illegal. It did without first having permission to enter into someone’s body. This is sort of enjoying a second life cycle, but without birth.”

G was a little disturbed. He asked, “As a living person we always have a plan of what to do now and what is next. In seek of what’s next after life, isn’t reincarnation a way?”

I replied, “No. A living person habitually sets a destination and then go on to make a plan or schedule or plan of actions. However, from a spiritual perspective, it is not what you can plan for what is next. When one dies, that is it[[7]], period.”

G interrupted, “But … Go on.” I presume he realized something now.

I reemphasized, “Banging right in without permission is lacking one thing, that is, birth. This reincarnation cycle is lacking in birth. It is seriously flawed.”

Rebirth

G interrupted a second time, “How do you explain …”

I read his mind. I explained, “That is rebirth. Yes, there is rebirth. This is permitted. But … not reincarnation.”

G softly exclaimed, “Rebirth!” Then he nodded his head.

I read his gesture as he finally realized what he has been seeking for. That is, rebirth.

I said, “Look. Sun Zi went through a rebirth as Sukarno, born 113 years ago as Kusno Sosrodihardjo, was the first President of Indonesia. I met with the spiritual teacher to President Sukarno who is a rebirth of Lord Siddhartha Guatama Buddha. I met Master Khoo in Kuala Lumpur who is a rebirth of Justice Bao. Justice Bao told me he knows the rebirth 关帝 (guan dì) is at Ulu Tiram, Johor, though they had not met each other. I know who the rebirth of Lord Abraham and Guanyin are though we had not met each other. I had a few meetings with the following rebirths: Lord Yama who is in Johor Bharu, Lord Amitabha Buddha who is in Kuala Lumpur, Laozi who is in Taiwan, Admiral Cheng Ho who is in Indonesia and several other lords [8].”

I then looked at him straight in his eyes. I figured that he is looking forward to a rebirth. I am convinced he is.

I calmly said, “Do not look beyond this life. You and I have a mission to carry out in this life. That’s why we receive spiritual information [9]. We just go about finishing our assigned jobs and here we are, on our journey to …”

G cut in and said, “Rebirth … is for sure. Let’s be focus and carry out what we are here for in this life.”

I smiled at him meekly. Pooh! At last, I had gently put across to him a highly contentious [10] concept. He now has bought in the idea that rebirth [11] is the correct path for him.

Righteousness

Let me skip to a second meeting on the same day at about 6:00 pm where I sat down together with two other people, L and Y. Y, the engagement officer who works in a public library said, “Yesterday, X (another engagement officer) was angry with one guy who confronted him. This guy could not find a seat with a power outlet within reach. He asked for X’s help. X found him one. Yet, he angrily told X off this is not the choice seat he wanted. He openly tell X that he wanted to lodge a complaint against him.

Today, a lady wanted a choice seat where a Chinese lady was seating but not using the power outlet. I found her a seat nearby. But she refused and insisted I talk to the Chinese lady. She then walked away. I spoke with this Chinese lady and she gladly moved to another place. I went over to tell the lady that the seat is now vacated and she can take it. Instead, she retorted, ‘No, I have found this seat already’.”

I intentionally cut in at this juncture to bring a point across to L. I said, “Last Friday, I met up with a Persian trader. He has been in Singapore for 15 years. He said having worked with the bosses in Singapore he is now very Singaporean in most aspects.

I asked him, ‘How do you ascribe yourself as very Singaporean?’

He replied, ‘Singaporeans, all said there is no other resource in Singapore other than people. Henceforth, they squeeze everyone, every drop of it.’

Immediately, I cut him off, ‘No. No. No. You cannot say that. Since you already know people are the only resource that Singapore has, all the more you must treasure them. Certainly not, abusing them or squeezing them. That amounts to … bullying. This is the exacting reason why all Singaporean businessmen failed in their business ventures outside Singapore. Why do I say so?

The other, local parties are not idiots. Out of politeness, they did not rebut or say, no. However, in their minds, they all know they are been bullied, being made a sucker. This was how Lee Kuan Yew made such a big bloody failure in the Suzhou Industrial Park.’

The Persian guy interrupted and said, ‘Yes. Unable to take the huge lost in pride, LKY sent Goh Chok Tong to India, hoping to make a big success over there. It is sort of teaching the Chinese people a lesson.’

I gently expressed my reproof, ‘Yet, they failed again in India. SIA almost clinched a deal to buy up a majority share in one of the local airlines, but failed at the last hurdle, the Minister of Transportation of India. If they could not get themselves moving right in China, all the more they cannot make any move in India. Corruption in India is unprecedented. How can a self acclaimed, clean person get his way in India?’

The Persian guy replied, ‘Ya-loh.’ Note 1: This is a Singaporean slang.

I concluded my discussion with him by saying, ‘Look. We must always think positive. I had avoided the word, squeeze. It is not a nice thing to do that upon others. Let’s treasure everyone. This is positive thinking.’

Now Y, you are in the same situation. The lady wanted to squeeze [12] you.”

Meekly, Y smiled at me.

I turned my head around and faced L who has been sitting quiet all this while. I said, “L, last week I shared with you, think positive. When you think positive, your knee pain goes away.” I then, gently placed my left palm on his left knee and gently rubbed it with my left thumb and index finger.

Suddenly, L sprang up with this exclamation, “How do you explain the rise of Singapore in three decades. Isn’t it a result … out of squeezing everybody? Have you contributed to the Singapore economy?”

I smiled at him and said, “L. What is the right thing to do? In my heart, there is only one right thing to do. That is, righteousness. To all I know, whatever I spoke in words, I said it out with righteousness. To everything I did, I do it the righteous way. I am not bothered at all with all other benchmarks that so-and-so claimed to be right, or have done right, be superfluously credited based on a certain benchmark and etc. I am not disturbed at all.

When Lord comes and I am saying … Lord is already here. What do you think … How would He judge us? Would he judge us on whether we had contributed to the economy of Singapore? Absolutely, not! He judges us on whether we are righteous or not, by words and by deeds. Now do you understand why all these while I have been saying positive words to you? This is … righteousness in words. It serves, for your own good. I want you to think positive, all the time.”

L nodded his head repeatedly. He said, “Yes, righteousness. Be righteous, always.”

I turned around to Y. From his expression now, he had understood why I interjected just now with the story of the Persian guy.

A short while later, L asked for permission to take leave and join another table where he was expecting another friend.

Being a righteous person

I said to Y, “Do you know what is the Chinese word for ‘righteous’?”

Y replied immediately, “义 (yì)”

I asked, “Do you know a deeper, more refine meaning of this word, 义?”

He shook his head.

I explained, “In traditional Chinese, the word 义 is 义. It is formed from two Chinese characters, one sitting on top of the other. Sitting on top of the character 我 () is the character 羊 (yáng). In the Bible, what is the meaning of the Lamb, the one with a capital L?”

Y replied immediately, “That is Lord. The Lord of lords as in Psalms 136: 3.”

I asked him earnestly, “What do you mean by holding the羊, The Lamb high up and well above oneself, which is represented by the word, 我?”

Y smiled at me. He was truly surprised with the way Chinese words were created. By breaking down a Chinese word into its component characters, each word has much deeper meaning than it seems on the surface. He clarified, “God is held high in reverence, way above me. In full humility, I must place myself lowly, not worth mentioning.”

Applauding, I commented, “You got it exactingly right. I have been telling you for quite some time now, I always try to avoid using the word, I. Where I have to, you should have noticed I usually qualified it with the phrase, “In total humbleness, may I use the word ‘I’ or ‘me’ or ‘myself’ …”

Y replied, “Yes, I do notice that. You too, had explained to me before something like this: A person who often uses the word ‘I’ and followed by some creditable achievements is definitely not a humble person.”

I prodded him to think further by asking, “What about a person with a ‘me-too’ mentality? It is even more obvious when a person exhibits behaviors where almost in everything that he does it is all about him, as if the world gyrates around him. Where is God? Was God in his mind when he said something or did something?”

Y stared at me, not confused but a little bewildered. A few seconds later, softly he said, “How … a person can put humility to God as the utmost thing in mind? That is, before he does something, he always asked himself, ‘Is this going to be righteous?’ To make ‘that’ into a daily habit and applies it to all the words that he says out loud and to all the actions that he executes. This is absolute adherence to righteousness.

On the contrary, this world seems to be running the other way round. It is 180 degrees off, completely running in the opposite direction.”

The fallacy of creating social pyramids

I elaborated, “When you put aside all the benchmarks or assessment standards or desired qualities in almost about everything in this material world that were laid down by human beings, you can be righteous most of the time. It is these benchmarks, assessments standards or desired qualities that mankind uses to form the social pyramid. When a person is in hot pursuit climbing up the ladders or hierarchy of a particular social pyramid, be it in any arena or field, GOD IS CERTAINLY NOT IN THE EQUATION.

This is why it is not easy to be righteous. To be righteous, one must 看破红尘 (kàn pò hóng chén), meaning, look at this materialistic world without wearing an eye-mask called social pyramid. Pluralistically, most people wear several pairs of eye-masks, each pair representing a particular social pyramid in one of the major or distinctive fields that they are in.

Yet, the leaders (in its broadest sense, anyone who has one or more subordinates), the media and worse of all, parents who are wearing these eye masks force-feed and cajole their children to actively participate in the mad rat race, pressure them to climb to the next higher level in the social pyramid faster and higher, continuously piling on more pressure as he goes further up and up with the sole aim of pushing him nearer to the apex of the social pyramid and lastly, stay on at its apex, forever.”

Y commented, “It is not difficult to understand why everyone in Singapore is squeezing each other so hard when we have a big bully [13] on top of the nation. How not, the Persian guy learns to squeeze the other people when he himself was squeezed so hard by fellow Singaporeans. This is really short-sighted. Even fools do not like to be squeezed.”

I added, “Here is adding salt into somebody’s wound. The person right at the top thinks that he is doing the right thing. Last Thursday, L told me Roy Ngerng [14] was fired. He then asked me was that the right thing to do (to defend his lost in pride). This was my reply, ‘I am not bothered. I am not going to read about it.’ It is unfair playing field.”

Y lamented, “Roy, a low ranking junior government health officer, pitting himself against the Prime Minister who is at the top of the social pyramid in a defamation suit, is all lost even before the court proceeding has begun.”

I reminded Y, “Two days ago, I shared with you this piece of information.

I said, “Sometimes, it is not so much that you have removed the eye mask called social pyramid and subsequently, had achieved Buddha-hood or spiritual baby or in unity with God. The persistent point is all the rest of the people see you where you are in the social hierarchy. Now, assume I am in the top of the social hierarchy, that is, the Sage. Everybody looks upon me as being at the top of the social pyramid. What does this mean to you?”

You replied, “Well, it means everyone looks up upon you as a person who holds the utmost power and is thus, able to deliver.”

I said, “Wait a minute. When a person first learns to climb the social pyramid, as he moves on to the next higher level, he thinks he had gained the right to command his subordinates. With that corrupted thinking, he thought he can take his subordinates for granted as if they must take his commands seriously, no matter what. A boss takes it for granted that his employees must perform what he expects out of them, if not, he personally assigns tasks to them and sees that they accomplished everything without disappointing him. Indeed, this is a superficial perspective of looking at the social pyramid.

However, when the same behavior resonates throughout the entire society whereby ‘monkeys see, monkeys do’, the one who is on top always thinks he is more superior and hence, capitalizes on his new gain power. Few people realized that this badly resonating behavior has a continuing negative effect that often bursts the seam of tolerance of the subordinates as abuses. Unfortunately, such abuses were quietly absorbed or the unhappy employees merely walked away, quietly. Roy was not even given a chance due to this resonating behavior.

This is a widely misunderstood view of the social pyramid. The higher the person is in the social hierarchy, the heavy the loads he is carrying, therefore, all the more, his commands must be taken seriously by his subordinates. The pundits riled and criticized Roy as a mere gullible hothead who tried to throw dirt at the person who is at the apex of the society. However, few people ever asked this question, ‘Does the one on top, carry the loads for the good of all the people below him as depicted in the social pyramid? Or, all he cares is merely to satisfy his own good?’

This is a contrasting picture. When the Sage is said to be viewed as sitting on top of the social pyramid, he in fact, places himself right at the bottom of an inverted social pyramid where he is shouldering the full load or is supporting all the people, doing everything he can for the good of the people with the noble aim of satisfying the needs of every one of them.”

You interjected and asked, “When everyone is going for his own selfish needs or interests, yet, the Sage is alone doing all he can for the good of everyone else. Where does he garner the strength or the will power to do so?”

I gave you a crystal clear answer, “The Sage is most resourceful. This resource which he must make available instantaneously can be said had been previously cultivated as a habit. This habit that he had previously cultivated is nothing else but a loving, compassionate and kind heart.”

You nodded your head in concurrence and murmured, “Yes, we do not know the limit of a kind and compassionate person who loves everyone else.”

Now, what do you see in the defamation suit against Roy? Is that a resonating bad behavior [15] or a sagacious behavior?”

Y replied, “The answer was clearly written on the walls since his father’s days.”

I added, “The fallacy of the social pyramid with its apex pointing up, reminiscences. Few recognized the correct, sagacious perspective of an inverted social pyramid with the Sage right at the bottom tip, doing all he can to provide for the good of everyone who is above him.”

Y made a sharp remark, “Nobody shares this piece of information before! Therefore, we can’t blame the mass for their ignorance.”

I continued, “To understand what exactly is sagacious behaviors, please read Chapter 59 of《道德经》 or DaoDeJing [16] .” Note 2: I copied it [17] down below.

He who leads or governs for the sake of the people must make available his resources from within himself anytime of the day in order to serve all the people of the world. This resource which he must make available instantaneously can be said had been previously cultivated as a habit. This habit that he had previously cultivated is nothing else but a loving, compassionate and kind heart. He, who had cultivated a loving, compassionate and kind heart, can overcome every obstacle. Because there is nothing that cannot be overcome, we do not know if there is a limit to a loving, compassionate and kind heart. For the mere reason that we do not know there is a limit to a loving, compassionate and kind heart, this must be it -- the only element that must runs through the entire society.

Therefore, people who have a loving, compassionate and kind heart are like the fountains or oases. They strengthen the social fabric and as a result, peace and harmony in the society can be maintained for a long time.

Love, compassion and kindness produce an endless stream that waters, and glues the social fabric of the society and the way love, compassion and kindness interweave into social structure is called, deep-rooted. If the people love each other, feel compassionate about someone’s woe or unpleasant plight and mutually kind to each other always without the slightest sign of diminishing or losing traction, this is considered beyond doubt, the excellent results of true leadership.

Of late, Y has been my every other day lunch companion. He knows that I am a spiritual writer. He too, understands that whatever I wrote, it cannot be an untruth. Not a single word can be an untruth.

Y is a Christian. He strictly sticks to the words written in the Bible. Somehow, he is open to me when I explained things beyond the Bible, for examples, Buddha-hood, spiritual baby and in unity with God. He had heard the following explanations directly from me.

Buddha-hood or修成佛道 (xiū chéng fó dào)

With reference to the Swastika which is a cross with all four ends bent at right angles. The top bent bar represents Heaven where God and the spirits are. The bottom bent bar represents Earth. By the way, this Earth refers to the sentient beings and not our planet Earth. The horizontal bar angled on both ends towards the left and right signifies a ship. A ship that would carries the sentient beings (Earth) back to Heaven. Whoever had achieved Buddha-hood is this ship. To be more exacting, a person who had achieved Buddha-hood can lend his body as a vessel [18] that carries the sentient beings within it. At this juncture, let me skip the detail where or how he lets them disembark from his body, the ship.

What are the conditions that must be met before one achieves Buddha-hood?

There are two conditions and a challenge, making it, three.

One, he must be able to keep his emotions to an absolute standstill akin to the surface of a piece of mirror. In Chinese, it is called, 心静如镜 (xīn jìng jìng). Despite the appearance of people or episode after episode of events happening right in-front of a piece of mirror, it simply does not respond or react to them. There is absolutely no emotion attached or being tempted away or agitated by the coming and going of each episode of people coming in and out of the picture right in-front of the piece of mirror.

Two, his heart is as compassionate as Lord Buddha, he loves everyone as Lord Jesus does and is also, brimming with loving-kindness as in Lord Jehovah. Mind you. All the sentient beings though upon leaving their bodies had already lost all five senses (sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch), they can ONLY feel the heart of every living person. When the sentient beings feel the heart (from outside the body) of a person who had achieved Buddha-hood, they can feel his compassion, love and loving-kindness. With this, I proclaim the sentient beings shall be in full rejoice because they have found compassion, love and living-kindness in the person who had achieved Buddha-hood.

Third, this is a challenge. Let me describe to you what can happen to a self-cultivated person who had achieved Buddha-hood. Among the sentient beings, especially those who had been fooled in the wayward concept of reincarnation, or perhaps, had already gone through once or several reincarnations, they may think that since this person who had achieved Buddha-hood openly invites them to enter into his body, more accurately, embark onto this ship, these recalcitrant sentient beings simply charge into his body, hoping they can take control over him as in the past where they had done before. No! This is not going to be the case. Because the heart of a person who had achieved Buddha-hood is calm like the surface of a piece of mirror, he could not be moved by these recent boarders. On the contrary, the opposite shall happen. Feeling the warm within this body, these recent lodgers shall learn about compassion, love and loving-kindness and in the process being reformed or in the Chinese language, 感化 (gǎn huà), repent and turn over a new leaf.

Spiritual baby or 灵童 (líng tóng)

This is a very Chinese concept. The highest level of self-cultivation wherein a person had attained in spiritual enlightenment is going back to the form of a baby, spiritually. Here is how the term, spiritual baby comes about. Meaning, his heart is so pure like a baby that other than the most basic needs to satisfy his hunger and a few other basic necessities, he is desire-less of all the temptations of this materialistic world. Indeed, a baby does not need to看破红尘 because he does not even recognize what the social pyramid is all about.

A person who aims to achieve the level of spiritual baby must first put down the eye-mask called, social pyramid. In other words, he must never look at the world with the perspective of a social pyramid. To him everybody is equal, not because we are all made the same or equal. It is all about not applying any benchmark, or assessment tool or differentiation in its quality attributes. He is merely compassion to anyone, loves everyone and is kind to everyone.

In unity with God or 二而为一 (èr ér wéi )

Here is an interesting note to a person who had achieved this level of self-cultivation. God can transcend into his body and resides in him [19]. When Jesus replied to Philip, ‘When you see me, you see Him [20]’, it actually means God had transcended into his body and is residing in him. Likewise, when Lord Buddha teaches, “I am The Teacher …” it was God who had transcended into his body and was giving a stern teaching to all the wayward spirits.

In search of righteous people

Two days later, June 19, 2014, I was in Johor Bharu, KSL City and Alfred came by. I met Alfred once about a year ago, but I did not spoke to him then because I was about to catch a bus back to Singapore. I managed to hear a few minutes of his conversations with my teacher and another fellow brother. Deep in my heart, I could feel he is a righteous person.

Today, we shook hands, swiftly walked to a coffee house two levels up, ordered a cup of coffee each and sat down. Soon after taking the first sip of coffee, without further ado, he said, “This is the most trying period. I am a real estate agent. The sellers are setting selling prices that are way too high, giving the prospective buyer a return of less than 2.5%, annualized return. Might as well, the buyer keep his money as bank fixed deposit that gives slightly less than 4% at the current published interest rate.”

Reassuringly, I said, “During challenging times like this, all the more you must have the blessings of God. And here are three key points that I am going to share with you, how to seek His blessings, fruitfully. First, you are a righteous person. Righteous means …”

Alfred interjected and made a clarification, “Wait a minute. At best, I know I am a compassionate person. There were several occasions where someone in need of financial help and though, I do not have any money, I called and borrowed from my friends to help them get over difficult periods. Often, friends commented I am foolish or is a stupid person.”

1. Will God rejoices at what I am doing?

I continued, “Let me explain to you, two things about righteousness. One, righteousness is always holding God in reverence, high above oneself. Two, words and deeds of righteousness that you have to put into everyday practices, make righteousness a daily habit. Therefore, when you speak, be conscious that every word you speak is received as a positive message by the receiving party and to everything that you do, always ask yourself, ‘Will God rejoices at what I am doing? Or, will He be disappointed with my action(s).”

Alfred commented softly, “Everyone else doesn’t seem to be doing it … in this righteous way.”

I ignored his dispirited feedback. I emphasized, “God is always in search of righteous people, no matter how few they may be, He is constantly seeking them out. And you are one of them. Otherwise, you shall not be sitting with me, sipping coffee together.”

Alfred returned a broad smile. He does not know I am a spiritual writer. Note 3: This is the first time I am revealing the bona fide meaning of a spiritual writer. When I published my writing, all the spirits read every single word of it. A week before December 21, 2012, I published an article on this date which was then prevalently marked as the end of the world or a similar catastrophes. Erroneously, I typed a word that implies a negative connotation. This shook the world of the spirits. They wondered how could have the spiritual writer been fooled by the false prophets. Swiftly, I admitted my mistake, sought immediately forgiveness and in full humility, I said, “If I can be fooled by them, what about the billions of people out there?” December 29, 2012, I received information that all the false prophets [21] were put into Hell.

I carried on and re-emphasized, “I have already shared with you the first point -- To everything that you do, always ask yourself, ‘Will God rejoice at what I am doing? Or, will He be disappointed with my action(s).”

Alfred nodded his head in acceptance and said, “This is the first time I heard such a simple and easy way to put righteousness into daily practice. From now onwards, I shall practice it.”

2. No greed

I continued, “Now, I am going to share with you the second point. You are putting in all your time and resources running about meeting people. Only when a deal is done, you received your fees due. Please remember this. You have worked hard to clinch the deal. The agency fee, therefore, is a deserving reward for you. Each of us is entitled to take on a job to earn a living. However, this is it – a mere mean to earn a living. On an everyday basis, you cannot think about the agency fee, how much or how lucrative a particular deal would be and worse, start being calculative which deal to put in more effort and which one to ignore.

This is exactly how I taught my youngest daughter, ‘On an everyday basis, you just focus on getting the tasks on hand done and completed without error. At the end of every month, you shall receive your salary as agreed upon in the employment contract. Do not be calculative and start weighing the work load assigned to you. Just do it and get it done to the best that you can be.’

Is that clear enough?”

Alfred commented, “She is like me. Just do it. I am sort of stupid, in the eyes of my friends.”

I interjected, “Please … stop making that comment. Do you think I want to encourage my beloved daughter to be stupid? Certainly not! This is part and parcel of developing her EQ. EQ is all about how other people feel about her, how they can connect to her. Here I am, guiding her in the development of her EQ or Emotional Intelligence [22]. It is her EQ that is going to help her win over the hearts of all the people whom she is working with now and in future.

On the contrary, if she were to pause, make assessments on every task assigned to her as either difficult, consumes a lot of time and effort, short deadline, or she grumbles the other colleagues are slacking while she is often laid with task after task endlessly, she is the main culprit, the root cause of her own downfall, through self-demoralization. Will she succeed, one day?

She has been working ten months now. She was not once, reprimanded by her supervisors. Perhaps, every one of them finds that she is such an effective and efficient worker. They all love her, I supposed.”

Alfred nodded his head and asked, “I get your point. What’s next?”

I exclaimed, “Not yet. That’s not the full picture.

May 26, 2014 was my 54th birthday. She and I had dinner together. She told me, ‘Now, I can cut down on over-time or working late till mid-night because several fresh graduates had just come on board. They must worked hard in preparations for their bar exams. Once they passed the bar exams, they get higher salary. More money is the driver behind work hard.’

I interjected and said, ‘Lin, dad is a 圣洁 [23] (shèng jié) person. In front of me, you cannot say, ‘more money’. That has a negative connotation, greed. To say, ‘higher salary’ is alright because it is a relative term that describes how they earn as a living, before and after passing the bar exams.’

She nodded her head.

Caring in the same light any other father, I asked, ‘since you do not intent to sit for the bar exams at this juncture, what do you aspire in life?’

She replied earnestly, ‘Dad, I have three loves: eat well, travel and Porsche.”

‘The sport car, Porsche?’, I asked to clarify.

She nodded and said, ‘Dad, I already have a collection of them.’ At the same time, she passed me her mobile phone and showed me the pictures of her collection of Porsche cars. I took hold of her Sony Experia mobile phone and begun looking at the pictures, glided my fingers over the screen to get on to the next picture. I saw a beautiful silver color Porsche. I examined it for a few seconds and then asked, ‘when did you get this silver Porsche. It is extremely beautiful? It must be an expensive piece.’

She replied, ‘That is a limited edition. While I was still studying in Shanghai, I attended a Porsche car exhibition. The promoter gave it to me.’

I exclaimed, ‘How could he have given it away to you?’

She replied, ‘Dad, I do not know why. Sometimes, I get things that I had wished for. It is, as simple as that.’

I looked at her eyes. I can see the purity in her heart, unadulterated, with no greed at all. Softly, I said to myself: ‘She is such a blessed person. God shall bless her with all her wishes coming true. She could be driving a full-size Porsche car and not one of these model cars.’

Now Alfred, do you get me? If you were to work for a decent living with no greed in mind, you shall be blessed with success after success.”

Alfred commented, “The current world is all about greed.”

I looked straight into his eyes and said, “Does anyone of us realized the moment he studies financial management as a course work, he had already set himself on the road of … no bliss?”

Alfred raised his head and asked, “Why do you say so?”

I explained, “Financial management, as it is being taught today is all about after more money, be it in terms of debt-bearing loans, interest rates, better returns, least costs, higher profit and etc. The fundamental element in financial management is GREED.”

Alfred murmured to himself, “With no greed in mind, I am blessed … with successes in all my endeavors. Yes, I am a person with no greed. All these years, I have been practicing ‘no greed’. I do not need to learn what Financial Management is all about.”

I concluded with this statement, “Point two, no greed in whatsoever that you are pursuing, period.”

3. Selflessness or无我 [24] (wú wǒ)

Alfred took a long sip and stared at me, quite blank. He was sort of in a daze, overwhelmed with my explanation on the subtle difference in one’s behavior at work. When one focuses on getting his job down well, it is not greed. However, when one focuses on getting more money or more about just anything is greed.

I continued, “Now, I am going to share with you a Chinese phrase, 以德服众 [25] (yǐ dé fú zhòng). It means, winning the respect of the people by giving them real benefits. How do you hand out real benefits?”

Alfred, “Put myself in the other party’s shoes with full empathy and find out earnestly what he wants at this juncture. Once, I went on a trip to Endau, south-east of Pahang state, a region where the native aborigines live. A family of five has no food to eat for several days. The father’s left leg has a large infected wound and the lymph node at his inner thigh was largely swollen. I drove my jeep to the nearest village which is twenty kilometers away, bought food for five and delivered it to their table. After they have finished their meals, I helped the father to board my jeep and I sent him to the nearest hospital where he was hospitalized for a week. Before I left the hospital, I went to the admission department, pulled out all the cash from my wallet and made an advance payment. I told the clerk, ‘I shall return a week later to pay all his balance medical bills.’

I am a compassionate person. I help just anyone who is in need of assistance, even a stranger like this aborigine and his family.”

I listened with full empathy. I pointed out, “That is 德 (dé). You had given out real benefits. Compassion is a powerful inner drive to handing out benefits to others. It is one of three important sources of 德.

Next is kindness. Kindness is all about giving, giving and giving. First, you give out real benefits to others without asking whether he or she touches your inner compassionate feeling. Second, you just give out real benefits without asking if you were to end up on the losing end. Third, you give out real benefits to the recipients without expecting anything in return. Fourth, you give out real benefits because of the occasion, such as during a charity drive campaign.

To comprehend kindness better, you must understand this analogy. The sun provides light, warm and hope to every living things. It is also their principal source of energy. All life on Earth ultimately depends on the sun energy to sustain a living. However, the sun does not want anything in return. This is true kindness.”

Alfred pronounced, “Kindness is the second source of 德.”

I asked, “Do you not know that kindness pays?”

Alfred immediately retorted, “If you say, ‘kindness pays’, then it goes against what you have explained in point three: you give out real benefits to the recipients without expecting anything in return. Therefore, I beg to differ.”

I elucidated, “You give out kindness without expecting anything in return. That is, you. You are a kind person. However, it does not mean God would not reward you with more than what you have given out. Remember. Earlier I said, ‘God is always in search of righteous people’. He too, is always in search of kind people. This is the reason why I explicitly revealed, ‘kindness pays’.”

Alfred was caught by a little surprise. He exclaimed, “All my life I have been giving out real benefits on compassionate grounds and I have been kind to almost everyone. Yet, I did not expect anything in return.”

I emphasized, “All compassionate and kind people are fully blessed. Just that you do not know it until just now when I mentioned, ‘God is always in search of the righteous people and now, kind people. And He rewards them profusely.’

May I ask, 'do you lack in anything?'”

Alfred looked straight into my eyes and took a deep breath. Several seconds later, he replied, “Honestly, I do not lack in anything. Perhaps, I often landed myself in tight situations. Somehow, aids, assistances and support from friends came in neatly making my woes or misfortunes, short and painless.”

I explained, “This is a Heaven mandate to the world of the spirits or you might prefer to call them, angels. They are supposed to reward all who had performed good deeds, irrespective of whether they are executed out of compassion or kindness or love. Cheering, giving confidence and rewarding immediately those who had performed good deeds is the most heartening way of encouraging everyone to be kind to each other, isn’t it?”

Alfred nodded his head and said, “All good deeds are being rewarded, no less than the real benefits that were given out. Your words ring out loud, angelically. I fully agree. Yet, nobody told me, before.”

Softly, I asked, “Next. Do you love your enemy?”

Alfred replied immediately, “No. This is something that, perhaps, I could not.”

I explained, “When Jesus said, ‘love your enemy’, it means accept him, stay with him, convince him what is right or wrong, influence him to avoid hurting others and do good deeds instead, and see that he is eventually a reformed [26] person - a reformed person whom the people shall love and respect.”

Alfred exclaimed, “Wow! Love your enemy means going to the extent to turn him into a reformed person whom everyone loves and respects? This is truly mind-boggling.”

I continued, “In the Hebrew language it is called agape love, or unconditional love. Unconditional means no differentiation of whether one is this or that, belongs to this class or that class, has been this or that, or etc. Unconditional love means, love anyone for who he or she is, selflessly.”

Alfred asked earnestly, “How can you not first make an assessment before you love someone? It cannot be the case where your love is already brimming and over-flow onto whoever comes near you, as if you can’t stop loving everyone. I cannot imagine this.”

I continued, “When you do not name someone as an enemy, foe, opponent, rival, adversary, competitor, contestant, contender, challenger, opposing team, the opposition or trouble-maker, there is no need for you to think about protecting yourself or safe-guarding your self-interests. Few people understand, the moment he names someone as an enemy or any name as is listed above he automatically thinks about defending himself and thus, starts placing him as more important.

May I ask, more important than whom?”

Alfred promptly replied, “Of course, more important that his enemy or etc.”

I stamped my remark, “No. You are wrong. You are absolutely wrong. The moment he places himself as more important, he had already placed God out of his mind. Remember what I said at the beginning of our discussion, I said ‘make righteousness into a daily habit. When you speak, be conscious that every word you speak is received as a positive message by the receiving party and to everything that you do, always ask yourself, ‘Will God rejoices at what I am doing? Or, will He be disappointed with my action(s).’ In other words, the moment you think you are more important you had turned away from being a righteous person.”

Alfred called out in disbelief, “How can someone stay righteous when he is facing his enemy, rivals or a butting challenger? That’s … Impossible!”

Softly, I defended my proposition, “If you were to read the articles published at my personal blog ericwoonct.blog.163.com under section, SQ – Selfless Quotient, you should know who views me as his number one enemy and you have already heard enough how he had viciously dealt with every single one of his opponents. However, I did not ever treat him as an enemy. I even wrote to him telling him I love him unconditionally because he is one of us. Why?”

Alfred shook his head, in a totally baffled state.

I continued, “When my heart is untainted with word that rhymes like enemy or rival or challenger or opponent, do I have to invoke Jesus’ teaching, ‘love thy enemy’? Absolutely, there is no need for that.”

Alfred still could not break away from his current mindset. He said, “How could one not defend himself from the on-slaughter of his enemy or opponent?”

I said, “The answer is pretty straight-forward. When a person is untainted with word that rhymes like enemy, he is as pure and desire-less as a baby. A want to defend him does not even arise in his mind. What do you think God would do? He shall defend him in his own capacity.

Why?

God is ever searching for a person who is so pure at heart that He can transcend into him. This is what I called ‘In unity with God’. It is God who transcends into him. Not the other way round, he transcends into God, of course. In Chinese, it is called, 二而为一. Only when a cultivated person had achieved the level of selflessness or 无我 (wú wǒ) shall God choose to transcend into him.”

Alfred lamented, “Eric, I have read and heard of many different forms of teachings and meditation methods that supposedly guide us to God. But, none of them is as simple as you have just shared with me.”

I added, “All these teachings have gone wrong from a simple perspective. The one who meditates wanted to see God. Worse, still carrying a huge baggage of greed, he is after more of everything. Will God transcend into him?"

Alfred promptly replied, "Definitely, the answer is no."

I added, "Yet, as stubborn as a mule, a person persists in his meditation practices, hoping to see God. Instead of seeing God, he sees godly images [27] in bright orange color. These are all false images that the wayward spirits transform themselves into and with only one aim, that is, to fool the person into believing he has seen God.”

Alfred summarized, “From now onwards, I shall practice righteousness, no greed and selflessness.”

I elaborated, “Actually I have shared with you five principles. They are righteousness, no greed, compassion, kindness and unconditional love. When a person incessantly put into practice all these five principles, over time, he should be able to achieve the state of selflessness or the state of ‘In unity with God’.”

Alfred lamented softly, “Well, I have yet to learn, unconditional love.”

My mobile rang and I have to run back to my shop. I asked, “Alfred, what do you look towards in life?”

He replied, “积德。投胎为人。” What he actually means is amass good deeds and be born again as a human being.

I said, “That is, rebirth. Be righteous, have no greed, be compassionate and kind to everyone and lastly, apply unconditional love. Put these to daily practices. In God’s glory, you are on the right path to rebirth.”

To every one of you (sentient beings included),

1)       Incarnation is not something you can ask for. Only God can decide who shall be incarnated and the incarnated person shall carry a Heavenly mission.

2)       Reincarnation is illegal. You could have been fooled by the wayward spirits. You are not at fault. Please stop this practice. STOP it NOW.

3)       In God’s grace, Rebirth is the correct path for all of you. In order to qualify for rebirth, put these five principles into daily practices: be righteousness in both words and deeds, no greed, be compassionate and kind to everyone and love selflessly.

[1] In this article, words in italics were not spoken but implicitly conveyed here to give the reader a better understanding.

[2] White light is made out of seven colors. When you place a dispersive prism in the path of a beam of light, the light breaks up into its constituent spectral colors (the colors of the rainbow). Souls occupy a different spectrum of the light frequency outside the spectral colors of the rainbow. The eyes of some people either trained or innately born with this ability can pick out or perceive the spectral colors of souls.

[3] The X-ray is a piece of equipment that can see through a person flesh and subsequently lays an imprint of the human bones onto an X-ray film. Some people can see through the flesh of human bodies and see the presence of souls, or pluralistically, many souls residing within a human body. G is a spiritually trained person and had acquired this ability. Remark: Until the dispersive prism was invented, mankind does not know white light is a combination of the full spectrum of the colors of the rainbow. At this juncture, scientists have yet to invent a piece of equipment similar in performance of X-ray equipment, but take pictures of souls.

[4] Broadly, it means in whatsoever way it may affect a living person. Most of us, at most, can feel a shuddering cold running down our back along our spinal column.

[5] Though I could not see soul as a physical entity, I can see in a person’s eyes and deduct accurately that there is more than one soul in him (or her). This can be double-confirmed when I hear him speaks. In the same light as a dispersive prism breaking down white light into the full spectral colors, I can differentiate the sound frequencies associated with the varying tones in the voice of a person as coming from more than one soul. This can be further confirmed from the intimidating language that he used, for examples, raised voice, anger, boastful, bullying, threatening, like to fight, crafty use of words, etc. By all standards, human nature is meek and humble. Caution: It takes all three skills to tell whether a person has more than one soul. Most of us are not trained in these.

[6] When a person dies in a fire, its soul carries a burnt smell.

[7] In the Bible, “those who are asleep” refers to people who had passed away. In the Quran, once a person passed away, it does not exist. Both have its merits. “Asleep” means, lay inactive. “Does not exist” means it will not be able to trouble a living person who believes in the Quran that they never exist.

[8] I did not go to school to study the Chinese language. Yet, I am able to translate DaoDeJing from its original classical Chinese language into modern Chinese language. Do you still need to make a guess who the rebirth I am now?

[9] There are two spiritual worlds, namely, the world of the spirits and the world of the sentient beings. Information that affects our emotions generally is activated among the world of the sentient beings, though sometimes the world of the spirits may do like-wise. Prophesy are mainly received from the world of the spirits. Caution: However, you must be able to distinguish whether this information is from God and His angels or the wayward spirits.

[10] Contentious because the wayward spirits had confused mankind with various false teachings such as reincarnation, fortune-telling, palmistry or foretelling the future through the study of the palm, shamans or 乩童 who usually goes into trance, and huge volume of dreadfully adulterated books on Buddhism and Taoism.

[11] The human soul is created with eternity. However, the human flesh body is not. This could be one of the main reasons why living people keep dwelling on the subject, after life. Capitalizing on mankind’s inability to comprehend the properties and eternity of the soul, the wayward spirits taught a deviant teaching – reincarnation among the followers of the Mahayana school of Buddhism mainly found in China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, Tibet and South-east Asia.

[12] The Singapore government made an abrupt change in governance with a series of full-fledge policies with the sole aim of squeezing its own citizens starting from September 1990 onwards. Lee Kuan Yew is particularly petty about keeping a clean slate during his tenure as Prime Minister. He turned Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong into his puppet and unfurled a series of policies beginning with “The Great HDB Flat Upgrading” program that boosted up the price of HDB flats by more than 3 times over a short period of 8 years (from 1990 to 1998). Ever since then, you shall find that the average citizens are squeezed under the theme, “Raiding the country reserve is not alright, but raiding the people’s pocket is always the right thing to do.” This lady felt that raiding Y’s time and effort is alright, therefore, she squeezed him to do something for her.

[13] To begin with, all bullies are smart and intelligent. The smartest Singaporeans, the scholars of every cohort are coaxed with enthralling overseas scholarships and spell-bound into working for the Singapore government. This is a translation of the statement, 慧智出有大伪 obtained from Chapter 18 of《道德经》 or DaoDeJing: When the smart and intelligent folks begin to outwit each other, there will be a large output of trickeries, misinformation, manipulations, cheatings and large number campaigns or promotions, rallies, plans of actions, policies or strategies that are false or hypocritical.  Please refer to http://ericwoonct.blog.163.com/blog/static/181911362201251004010282/

[14] A simple fellow Singaporean sued by the Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong for defamations over his postings on some CPF issues.

[15] In governing the country, always be fair and equal to everyone, comply with the laws and make sound judgment for the benefits of the people, you are then leading a peaceful and prosperous country. [17] All three elements: love, compassion and kindness seem to be completely missing in Singapore and most obviously among all the government departments. This implies false leadership.

[18] I have seen in my own eyes how my teacher lends his body as the vessel that allows the sentient beings to freely enter into him. Each times, his head would be in pain. Over time, I too, learned how to allow my body to be the vessel. Most of the time, my lower back will be in pain. Sometimes, it made me cough, pretty bad cough. March 2013, I visited a Rinpoche in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. When I stepped into his temple, he was beyond description with both eyes staring at me for several minutes. He saw the sentient beings entering into my body as if I am commanding them to do so, and to no ill effect. By the way, everyone (including so-claimed spiritual masters) dare not allow the sentient beings to enter their body. My teacher and I are the only exceptions. Both of us had achieved Buddha-hood.

[19] From information that I had received, I know of one other person who had achieved this level of ‘In unity with God’.

[20] John 14:10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works. And John 14:11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise believe because of the works themselves. Note: NASB version.

[21] Mathews 24:24 For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect. Remark: The spiritual writer is one of the elect. So are the rebirths.

A cultivated person whose soul is fully under his control, no greed, free from impulsive response, calm as the surface of a mirror and absolutely unemotional, selfless and full of compassion, forever loving and kind in both words and deeds and so on.

[25] [服众]: 使众人心服。All are convinced and hold in high respect.

[26] To all the kind and compassionate people, the Sage shall be kind and care for them all. To those who are less kind and neither compassionate, he would shower them with the same level of kindness and care because this is the only way to guide everyone to learn to be kind and compassionate. Over time, the people shall cultivate core moral principles of mutual love, compassion and kindness, leading to the evolution of a kind and caring culture. Please read Appendix B: Chapter 49 of DaoDeJing.

[27] As in souls, they appear in a spectral frequency that is beyond the full spectrum of the colors of the rainbow, the spirits are of another spectrum altogether and definitely not as bright orange color which sits in well within the spectral colors of the rainbow.
