论老子

道,领导也。领导必需要不断呼唤,教导下属以及以身作则。下属的过和错皆因领导懒惰。

Red wine is good for your heart

In the late 1990s, The American Consumer Association allowed the winemakers to place a label mentioning that drinking red wine is good for the human heart. As a result, the sales of red wine have increased by double digits percentage every year. Drinking a moderate amount of red wine (not white wine though) everyday helps to protect your heart from heart attack and probably, to live longer. The resveratrol, an anti-oxidant found in the grape seeds and skin is said to be the reason. Resveratrol is proven to lower LDL level (the bad cholesterol) and increases HDL (the good cholesterol) in the blood stream.

But before reaching out your hands to get a bottle of red wine, listen to this advice from the French. The findings about the goodness of red wine came from studying the eating habits of the French people. They eat almost the same stuff as what the American do - high in proteins and fats. However, their heart attack rate is much lower.

The French folks say, “Wine with food. Wine is health. Wine is toxic.” You heard the last word, toxic. Drinking a glass of wine after a meal perhaps is good for health but drinking two or more may offset its benefit and may even increase the risk of getting liver cancer or liver cirrhosis.

People suffering from diabetic and high blood pressure, those who have a history of liver problems, are not supposed to drink anything containing alcohol. This is because alcohol is toxic to the human body. I asked several liver specialists. Every one of them told me that the best thing to do is not to drink wine, beer, champagne or whatever drinks containing alcohol.  Alcohol is definitely not meant for human consumption.

So there are two possibilities if you are drinking wine now.

One, you love drinking no matter what the doctors had said. Their advices are gone with the wind by the time they finished talking. You won’t listen to their advice because you simply love drinking.

Two, you are misled by the winemakers who had used the veil of misinformation to encourage you to drink more red wine. In this case, you are considered as a passive drinker. You pick up this habit out after listening to the ‘advice’ of the wine makers.

In my personal opinion, the same label saying red wine protects the heart must also state the phase ‘Wine is toxic’ clearly. But this will definitely not going to happen for it is going to hurt the wine business.

Which red wine maker does not enjoy a game of “the veil of misinformation”? The worst offenders are the distributors and media who peddle these products.
